Playground for Men: Los Angeles, 2010-12, in-progress

I'm currently transforming an existing private mens sex club into (more or less,) an art installation exploring ideas of masculine space, and the animal-like game of cruising.

Danger, shame, fear, risk, excitement, eroticism, validation, exposure, concealment - all major elements of the sex club experience, and sensations to be balanced delicately during one's visit.

Taking visual cues from the often playful interiors of auto body shops, sports supplement packaging, and the industrial-inspired patterns from the Memphis design group, I'm creating a palette of "masculine aesthetics" as I design this space for man on man intimacy, exhibitionism, and voyeurism - as an entire experience.
